With locations in Garden City, Ulysses, Dighton and Hooker, OK, our finance team are the backbone of our operation. The finance team is here to serve our members while working closely with our other divisions. Whether you are looking for someone to help with fuel bids, settling your grain, financing your inputs, or answer your questions around membership and equity, our finance team consists of qualified individuals to address these needs and many more. We also help facilitate the internal functions of the company such as managing payroll and accounts payable, reporting and compliance, risk management, as well as financial tracking, planning and analysis.
The purpose of a cooperative is to serve its members. A cooperative is member owned and operates similar to other businesses- with one exception. The cooperative's profits or savings, after the costs of doing business are paid, are returned to the members as patronage dividends at the end of the year. Patronage is paid out partially in cash, and partially as equity in the company to be paid out at a later date. In order to receive patronage dividends, you must first become a member of the cooperative.
Becoming a member of the Garden City Co-op is as simple as filling out a membership/credit application and purchasing $50 of stock in the company.
Anyone who is a producer of agricultural products in our trade territory may become a voting member of the association by purchasing $50 of Common Stock. Anyone who is not a producer of agricultural products in our trade territory may become a Participating Member by purchasing $50 of Participating Stock.
Every cooperative member receives a patron number. You can make cash purchases, or if you are approved for credit, you may charge against this account. The more business you do with your cooperative, the more you receive back from your cooperative in patronage dividends.

Holly grew up in the town of Fay, Oklahoma, a small town Northwest of Oklahoma City, graduating from Thomas-Fay-Custer High School in Thomas, OK.
Holly attended Northwestern Oklahoma State University in Alva, OK where she graduated with a B.S. degree in Psychology.
She began working for Sullivan Inc. in 1999 in Ulysses as scale help during wheat harvest in the summer. Cowan didn't intend to stay but the harvest temp help position turned into a full time job and she became more involved in grain accounting, accounts receivable, and accounts payables. While she was growing up, Cowan's parents had operated a custom harvest crew and the family would travel from Texas to North Dakota every summer; an experience that made an impact on Cowan and would ultimately lead to her staying instead of pursuing other career paths.
Sullivan, Inc. was purchased by GCC in 2006 and the GCC Crop Production accounting responsibilities were also added to Cowan's list of assigned tasks.
In 2019, Holly took over as the Human Resources and Administrative Services Manager upon the retirement of Caroline Duvall. Her twenty previous years in the accounting department has given her a lot of experience with the co-op, particularly in grain and crop production accounting.
Holly married her husband Daron, who also works in the ag industry, in 1998. They live in Ulysses with one daughter, Lily.
Holly is a coach for her daughter's Odyssey of the mind team, active in her 4-H projects and volunteers at her church. She also enjoys cooking, shopping and home projects. She will graduate with her Master's Degree in Industrial and Organizational Psychology from Kansas State University December 2019.
Cowan states that the best part of working for the co-op is "The great people / coworkers and the farmers."
