FRIEND HISTORY

The Friend Elevator was purchased in April 1998 from Cargill, Inc. The Friend facility had 240,000 bushels capacity in the concrete portion, 84,000 bushels capacity in steel tanks, and 190,000 bushels capacity in the flat storage building for a total storage capacity of 514,000 bushels.

In 1999, the Garden City Co-op added an additional 520,000 bushels storage to the Friend Elevator bringing the total storage capacity up to 1,034,000 bushels. A new 12,000 bph leg and dump pit were installed along with relocating the scalehouse and installing a new 80’ x 11’ scale.
