Summer Harvest Prep
By Lindy McMillen, Dighton Area Grain Originator

Wheat harvest is right around the corner. Here are a few pre-harvest tips to help harvest go smoothly for you at GCC elevators and offices.
  • Update and use your business units! This is the best way to make sure that your grain is separated by field or landlord in our system – and makes settling your grain more accurate and efficient.
  • Give a list of your business units to your truck driver. This helps make sure that the driver and the scale operator are on the same page. Reach out to any of our offices to get a list printed.
  • Make sure that your account information is up-to-date. This includes phone number and address changes for your accounts, as well as any landlords.
  • Verify all contracted bushels with a member of the grain team.
  • Settling grain does not necessarily have to happen in person in our offices. If you have your tickets and bushel totals by business unit, we can settle your grain over the phone and e-mail you the information. This can save you time and have your bushels verified more quickly for yourself and your landlords.
  • Download the Garden City Co-op App. This is a great way to see real-time ticket information and grain balances. We have changed app providers since last harvest, so please reach out to our Grain Team to get set up if you haven’t already.
From all of us here at GCC, we appreciate your business and wish you a safe harvest. We look forward to serving you!
