Boost Your Buying Power and Secure Your Seed Early

Producers have learned to pre-pay their seed, but what they might not realize is how those pre-pay discounts benefit them and GCC. As a retailer, we want to give you every opportunity to make your crop year successful, and in return, GCC will succeed and pass those benefits back to the Grower. Here’s how:
Your order early discounts will benefit your purchasing power.
Seed is offered at a lower price earlier in the season, which allows you to buy more and use that money elsewhere. What isn’t realized, is that by deciding on which hybrid a producer wants early ensures that the grower will receive the hybrid of their choice. Many of the best corn hybrids, milo hybrids, and Double Team milo hybrids can be sold out by the end of October. This is typically when the best early cash discount is offered.
As a partner, we want to make sure the grower is putting the right hybrid, on the right field, at the right time, and the best way to do that is do order those hybrids early.
Sometimes, production of certain hybrids can change throughout the year. Weather events, supply shortages, or bad germination can change the availability of a hybrid. By ordering early, this will give ample time to come up with a plan B, to help place the next best hybrid on the farm. It is important to talk to your seed agronomist to get the best idea of which hybrids could sell out fast, or if there might be short supply. Thankfully, this year has been good for production, but that could change with one bad storm event.
Ordering early allows GCC to bring seed in early.
This allows for fuller truck loads, and less shipments. This is why and how the discount is passed on to you. It allows GCC to know that the seed we ordered is now in the warehouse and is ready to be sold and shipped. Until the seed shows up to the warehouse, there is no guarantee the seed will be received. That is how the producer can help GCC know that what we ordered can be placed on your farm.
Again, talk to your local seed agronomist by phone, e-mail, or text. The agronomist team wants to be proactive on placing the right products on your farm at the best price available. Ask when the early cash discounts are scheduled, along with discounts for financing, or even early order discounts. Ask about what typically is sold out early, so that you can get the seed you want. Pre-Pay discounts help the producer and GCC!
